GUIDE:DAY TO NIGHT LOOK
By Olotoli A Yeptho

I believe in the phrase “Glow your own way”. Make up has always been understood as almost every girl’s best friend, dolling yourself up for certain days is not something to be appreciated. There’s really nothing wrong to want to look good once in a while.
I have various make up routines kept aside for various occasions though I prefer something more on the simpler side. I like to call it my ‘daily make up look’ because college is stressful and i don’t really want to be seen as someone already done with college. Even though that may be the case.
I don’t have a particular brand of make up that I always use. I go for different brand products because of its sense of different outcomes and it’s really fascinating in a way, to challenge and explore.
Tips and routine:
-
Moisturising your face first is the most important step. Your face being moisturised means the make up stays longer and your skin looks healthier even under the make up.
-
For the base, I use Maybelline’s bb cream. I don’t use foundation to cover up my face because I have a bad experience with it and my pimples. Definitely not a good combination.
-
Contouring has been a favourite of mine and to learn it has been quite a process. I use Wet and wild for the contour. It gives a satisfying glow to my cheekbones and I make sure to make it look quite natural.
-
For highlighter and eyeshadow, I prefer the brand MakeUp Revolution. The highlighter is quite pigmented and gives stunning results. I don’t have to apply it much as little of it does the wonders, the eye shadow working the same.
This routine that I follow each day for college keeps me up in my spirits because it reassures me that I look good in my skin and because I try to make it as natural as possible, gives me a boost to my confidence. Make up doesn’t necessarily mean low self esteem, as per most claims. It’s about just wanting to look good for a day despite the hectic schedules and there’s no harm in that. Being mindful of wanting to make good impressions also helps in enhancing our natural beauty from within. I’d just like to end with a line I came across, “ keep it sweet and subtle.”
